Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and The ROHO Group will
co-sponsor the PTR/ROHO Wheelchair Tennis Championships. Matches will be held at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center on Hilton Head Island. Tournament play begins at 9am on Wednesday, September 9th, and continues through Sunday, September 13th, with Men’s, Women’s and Quad divisions. Several of the top wheelchair players in the world will compete in this event, which is part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour and sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Tennis playing locals are invited to join in a Run-Roll at 7pm, Wednesday, September 9th, at Chaplin Park. Interested players should call Julie Jilly at (843) 785-7244. An Up-Down pro exhibition match will be held Monday, September 7th at Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. The exhibitions are doubles matches with a wheelchair player and an able-bodied player on each team. Spectators are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the exciting exhibitions, as well as all the tournament matches. See for yourself why tennis is the fastest growing of all wheelchair sports.
Volunteers are needed to help serve lunches, and “ball persons” of all ages are needed. Volunteer for an afternoon or for the entire tournament. To volunteer, or for more information, please call Julie Jilly at (843) 785-7244 or email julie@ptrtennis.org.
